New ink work for the next image, Kuniyoshi-Jimu battles the twin Tigers! the fur and stripes of the tigers was really fun to ink, lots of textures to try and emulate...
Hand Coloured version of the Koi Battle, this is now the original image, finished using water-colours, very happy with the finished image and i learned alot from painting the koi!
The second colour test for my Phoenix Battle image, i went for a less traditional colour scheme as i felt that the orange one from before was too much! i am undecided as to which one i prefer
Colour test using digital to see how i should watercolour the original, really happy with the phoenix colours, and the samurai clothing colours are more what i want them to be now
Colour Tests for the Samurai Kuniyoshi-Jimu image, i am leaning towards the orange Koi more as i will be creating an image of a dragon in the greenish scheme...
The second lot of pattern work that i created using the second samurai that i created i wanted more area in this one to allow better space for the pattern work, i think the red colours work really well on these pieces, more work to follow!
second image work on samurai's, this image was created without using one of Kuniyoshi's Samurais as a reference, i feel he looks a little too chunky compared to the last one, the pose also looks a little static and boring but i wanted to focus on the clothing
some more play with the samurai work, i added some patterns using some brushes to give it the authentic printed fabric look! thanks to Marielle on deviant for the asian brushes! here is the link, lots of good brushes to use! http://mouritsada-stock.deviantart.com/
trying something else a bit different than normal by colouring with photoshop rather than using the inks and watercolour, i like the look of a screenprint that they give, the grey wash is my favorite!
practicing my inking with a brush instead of a pen, i already love it! its so much more fluid than using pens, the stance was copied from one of Kuniyoshi's Samurai
